Who we are.
Our members have an interest in the environment and want to learn more about our wildlife and help conserve it for the enjoyment of people today and the generations to come.
Individually we are not "experts", but together we are learning, and building up knowledge and expertise to provide information on Berwick's fauna and flora.
In 2004 a Phase One vegetation survey of Berwick was undertaken for the Market Towns Initiative by the Berwickshire Naturalists' Club.
This survey identified a number of valuable wildlife habitats around Berwick, most of which were unprotected, in need of management and above all requiring scientific survey on which to base such management.
Berwick Wildlife Group was set up to try to remedy this situation.
What we do.
Our main aims are to :-
We therefore arrange events,
These are open to everyone.
In addition members can:
We are a small group of about 40 people.
All members provide valuable support for the local environment through their subscription.
Most enjoy our talks and walks, and many help with the range of surveys and behind-the-scenes organisation essential for the success of the group.
Members do not have to have special skills or knowledge, just an interest in their environment. Come along to one of our advertised meetings and see if you might like to join us.
The fee is only £8.00 per year for individuals, £14.00 for families at the same address.
