Chairperson's Report

Fiona Aungier
(2007/08 events, surveys, interpretation, co-operation, lobbying)

Fiona Aungier thanked all committee members for their invaluable hard work and support over the past year and then gave a summary of activities. Surveys had included town trees, bats, beach litter, red squirrels, bumblebees, butterflies and estuary birds, and all data collected had been tied into national surveys. Monthly talks and/or walks had been arranged, and were appreciated by those attending. BWG had been represented at various events and festivals in the Borders, and had organised the event, ‘Berwick is Brilliant for Wildlife’ for which Tweeddale Press had kindly given permission for use of the ‘Berwick is Brilliant’ logo.
A tremendous amount of work had been carried out in relation to proposed developments within the town and borough; examining consultants’ reports, attending meetings, and composing detailed responses. Representatives of Berwick Borough Council had met with the committee and registered appreciation of its efforts.
