JI – Re. jet skiers in estuary. Phil Davey of English Nature had been ‘phoned and was not aware of current situation. President of the rowing club also had reported problems.
M.Hucheson – Spa Well planting scheme. Native species to be potted up ready for future planting. MH to advise.

Third 2008 Butterfly Walk 24th Aug.
Bat meetings, 28th Aug and 11th Sept.
Squirrels in Kyloe. 14th Sept. Excellent.

Third 2008 Butterfly Walk 24th Aug. Malcolm was thanked for a most successful event.
Bat meetings, 11th Sept. Sightings reported in The Avenue, around Governor’s Garden and landward side of trees along the town walls.
Squirrels in Kyloe. 14th Sept. Excellent event. No sightings but plenty of signs. Monies collected were donated to Squirrel Conservation.

Dr.Janet Simkin ‘Lichens & Mosses’ for which FA is to check out Tweedmouth Cemetary for suitability and notify BBC if we intend to visit it;
‘Fungus Foray’ in Kyloe Woods next year, there being an excellent show there this autumn.

Squirrel Group

Report (I have a written one from Elizabeth – others please contribute).

Report. Three more surveys to be carried out – Middle Ord, Longridge Towers, Tilmouth. In Kyloe there are probably between 40 & 60 squirrels.Carole Rust has a record of red with white on the tail.

Butterfly transects – Almost full set of records despite v. poor year – congratulations to all. M Hucheson reports Speckled Woods at Detchant – they like elms and ivy. They were in Berwick in the 1920s, but disappeared.
Fixed pt photography is going well.

Three Rivers Housing – report and pictures sent.
Northern Gas Networks – 2008 grant application – provisional form sent. Bat detector, girthing tapes and GPS requested.

JI – contractors doing survey on Royal Border Bridge disturbed house martins. He took vehicle registration numbers and followed up, but the firm denied they had been there.
LC reported seeing a nuthatch in Castle Terrace 15th.Sept.
