Little Beach (Notice board)

Reply from Council? (MW) What next?

No response from BBC. FA to look into ‘Breathing Spaces’ for possible funding and production of interpretive panel. Possibly schools could be involved in producing illustrations.

Estuary.

Advertiser article + visit planners (FA). Letter?

MH had been contacted by Julia Roper, Regional Organiser for Wetland Birds Study.Little can be done until developers show plans for estuary.

Complete programme for 2007 – a few points to discuss.

Discussed. Results to be shown on Events list. LC to confirm date of 14th Feb. talk with Steve Betts.
EB to look further into trip to Inner Farne with a view to organising it for 14th.July 07,Also possibly Ford Moss for August.

Data and graphs all worked up. To go to Butterfly Conservation, Nat. Biodiversity Netwk, Landowner, who else?


Butterflies T the M & Cocklawburn? Bees same time?

Butterflies - Transect Walker to come out this month; if it doesn’t, data to be sent as it is.
Future surveys of Cocklawburn Beach and Tommy the Miller’s Field could be organised subject to enough interest being shown; notice to be posted on the website. Sam Ellis to be asked about the ownership of Cocklawburn.

Bees - University of Stirling School of Biological Sciences can send someone to do a bee identification day, and would like BWG to survey bumblebees.

Bats – English Heritage to contact LC re. dates for surveys.

Flora – 2007. Verges could be monitored; Cocklawburn a possible site for next survey.

EB to put an article about squirrels in the press and ask for sightings.

FA had received a report from CARA on Tappee Fen, and had responded with suitable comments.

Little Beach and its significance to birdlife will be written by MH and posted on the website.

At a public meeting held by AONB, attendees expressed overwhelming support in favour of extending AONB boundaries northward to the Scottish Border to include both the Tweed estuary and the urban areas.

FA showed the committee a draft of the forthcoming Newsletter.
