Library Display – 4th Feb 2 wks? Own board? | Cyril Guthrie (14th Nov) Films were much admired. Good number attended. One new membership. Berwick is Brilliant for Wildlife – 12th December. There is to be tea, coffee and fruit punch, for which JR will find a recipe. FA to obtain mince pies; ET to obtain savoury variety packs from M & S. LC to look into hire of glasses. A list was compiled of people to invite from wildlife organisations, local authority, schools, supportive businesses, past speakers, etc. FA to post/e-mail invitations and notify all BWG members. FA has arranged hire of digital projector – to be used for informal slide show, not formal power-point type presentation. Displays to be organised by members who have led research groups. FA to provide one board per display (from library). A map to be displayed with arrows pointing to relevant sites. FA to provide copies of research reports both to display as appropriate and to sell. An extra table will be needed for this. EB, JR, FA to view the hall afternoon of 6th.Dec. Library Display – 4th Feb 2 wks. Members put up display on own boards (or hire theirs @ £1.50 per week). . |

BTO Birds,
| BTO Birds, MH reported all is arranged for the Sunday event. Beach Litter. JR & FA to arrange equipment for 6th Dec. Town Trees. Surveys completed and results sent in. |
5 | Little Beach Interpretive Panels | Progress to date. | Currently with the printer, but held up due to staff holidays. |
6 | Ord House Country Park. | Pond, etc. | Pond, EB talked to Tony Mercer re. pond safety issues and several suggestions put forward. She advised that the local authority could provide additional guidance. |
7 | Computer anti-virus. | Updating. | Updating of anti-virus protection undertaken for a further year. |
8 | Any Other Business | . | FA reported that CARA has received a grant of £3,000 for work at Tappee Fen, where a local bird-ringing group is interested in ringing pied wagtails. Some discussion about the desirability of ringing small birds. Are small birds capable of surviving for very long the stress ringing causes? Will birds be ringed and released within minutes of being caught? MH reported not having seen dead small birds shortly after ringing and said that any ringer not abiding by the regulations should be reported to the appropriate authority. |
